From its humble origins in the state of Oregon in the U.S. in 1964, NIKE has created one of the world’s most successful and ubiquitous global brands. NIKE’s Swoosh logo is one of the most recognizable logos globally and the company has continued to refine itself into a company synonymous with health and fitness as opposed to simply a producer of athletic apparel. In 2015, Forbes estimated that the NIKE brand was the world’s most valuable sports brand and worth US$26 billion (having increased from US$7.5 billion in 2007) – far ahead of its main rivals, Adidas worth US$6.2 billion and Under Armour worth US$5 billion.
